About Julie Budd:

Julie Budd is considered to be one of the most exciting singers on the scene today. Winner of the Broadway World Award for Best Show – “They Wrote The Songs” – Julie Budd has enjoyed a very multi-faceted career that ranges from television to film, along with the New York stage and symphonies all over  the country.

The New York Times raved with a full two page glowing retrospect of Julie’s career, declaring Ms. Budd “The Consummate Performer.”

She began her professional career at the tender age of twelve, after meeting record producer / orchestrator Herb Bernstein.  Herb Bernstein, who produced Laura Nyro’s first hit album, was at that time, recording Merv Griffin as well.  Herb immediately took Julie under his wing, and introduced her to Merv Griffin at the recording session in New York City. And, after Merv heard Julie sing, this “Mini Girl with the Maxi Voice” was invited to appear on more than 100 of Merv’s shows. From there, Julie went on to appear on The Tonight ShowEntertainment Tonight, and every major TV show in the country. In the years that followed, Julie co-starred with such legendary performers as Frank SinatraLiberace and Carol Burnett . As Julie recalls, “What a way to grow up and start in this business.” “These people were wonderful to me.”  “Some kids went to school, but I went to work and learned from the best.”  “Each one of these performers was a professor to me, and I was so lucky to have had the opportunity to know them all.”

And now, today..while touring in her One Women Shows, Julie’s concerts have included performances at Lincoln CenterCarnegie HallThe Kennedy CenterThe London PalladiumTel Aviv’s Israel Performing Art’s Center, venues in Las Vegas, and major Symphony Halls all over the United States. Julie also toured as Guest Artist for seven years, with the late great Marvin Hamlisch. Julie has become a favorite to many of the Symphony Orchestras - The Baltimore SymphonyThe National SymphonyThe Pittsburgh SymphonyThe Austin SymphonyThe Alabama SymphonyThe Philadelphia SymphonyThe Dallas Symphony and The Milwaukee Symphony. Julie Budd has also pursued an exciting acting career.  Having appeared in productions with the prestigious Circle Repertory Company in New York City, The Playwrights Horizon in NYC, and appearing On Broadway at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater.  Julie also appeared on the road in Neil Simon’s “They’re Playing Our Song.”  Movie-goers will remember Julie’s starring role in Walt Disney’s “The Devil & Max Devlin” with Elliot Gould.  Along with the lead role in “The Devil & Max Devlin” Julie had the opportunity to record the title song to this film.  The late Marvin Hamlisch, along with Carol Bayer Sager, penned the title song for Julie, “Roses & Rainbows.” Julie also had the pleasure of recording several movie sound tracks & theme songs for other motion pictures as well.  For The Disney Company, Julie recorded the title song to “Amy On The Lips” and also recorded the follow-up sound track recording for the motion picture, “Born Free” which was called “Living Free.” Julie also recently appeared in another motion picture “Two Lovers” along with Joaquin Phoenix, Gwyneth Paltrow and Isabella Rosselini. Julie’s CD “Pure Imagination” (After9 Touchwood) was named Top Ten CD by Entertainment Today and received a ****Four Star Rating (4Stars ) from Stereo Review. Julie followed up with Some more CDs … “If You Could See Me Now” and “The New Classics.” Her newest release “They Wrote The Songs” was on the entry list for a Grammy Consideration, and is considered to be Julie’s best recording work to date.  “They  Wrote The Songs” is a fresh look at a collection of songs, composed by the writers of our generation – the new side of The American Songbook – songs written by such Classic contemporary composers as The Beatles, Ann Hampton Callaway, Anthony Newley, Paul Anka and more. The reviews have been smashing! Julie Budd has also added the title of “Master Class” teacher to her interests and is bringing her method of “The Art Of Vocal Technique” to students and universities, along with performing arts centers, all over the country. Julie is in the process of writing a book about her days as a child prodigy alongside the greatest entertainment legends of all time.  Julie supports the Variety Children’s Charity, and has appeared as one of the hosts on the telethons.  She also supports MDA and The Saint Jude Children’s Hospital Organization which was founded by her dear friend and mentor – Danny Thomas – and which is now headed by his wonderful daughter – Marlo Thomas.
