POCONO MANOR, Pa., August 9, 2018 — Media personality Shefik (http://shefik.info) is slated to host the highly anticipated red carpet at a Miss Fashion Global (https://www.missfg.com) competition, where he will engage in lively discussions with VIP guests and Pennsylvania state contestants. The contestants in the competition have been through at least one of the 14 preliminary rounds held throughout the state of Pennsylvania in 2018.
The competition will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018, at Pocono Manor Resort & Spa, 1 Manor Dr., Pocono Manor, PA 18349. The evening's events will begin at 5 p.m. ET with a champagne reception, where VIPs, press, media, and contestants can meet and greet before the start of the competition, which will start promptly at 6 p.m. ET and end approximately at 8:30 p.m. ET. Kari E. Holmes will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies for the competition, and judges include Jackie Youst (President, Jacquelyn Youst Etiquette Consulting); Elizabeth Strong (Founder and CEO, Elizabeth Anthony Salon); Laura Mazurek (Host, "Style and Empowerment Chat with Laura and Friends" Radio and TV); and Crystal Carmen (Founder and CEO, Pink Stiletto Cosmetics).
Miss Fashion Global is an international modeling competition. A model can compete in one of four categories: Fit Model, Petite Model, Curvy Model, or Runway Model. During the competition, models are judged on their overall appearance, runway walk, swimwear, evening wear, and free style outfit. The Pennsylvania state competition is a preliminary for nationals. The winners will receive a 2019 state title, sash, and Miss Fashion Global crown. The nationals competition will be held in Orlando, Florida, home of Universal Orlando Resort and Walt Disney World Resort.
In September 2017, Hurricane Maria struck Puerto Rico (a United States territory) and devastated the lands and agriculture, along with its inhabitants, and its already unreliable infrastructure. In effort to give back to the community in which Karen Lebron (one of Miss Fashion Global's partners) was born, the competition has combined efforts with Lehigh Valley Fashion Week (http://lehighvalleyfashionweek.com) to promote awareness of the continued need for assistance to Puerto Rico. Therefore, a portion of the proceeds from the Pennsylvania state competition will benefit hurricane relief efforts in Puerto Rico. A representative of the non-profit organization Save the Children (https://www.savethechildren.org) will be in attendance to receive such proceeds.
In regards to the nationals competition, a portion of the 2018 proceeds will be donated to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org). The Miss Fashion Global organization truly embraces diversity and is dedicated to support positive self-image, self-love, and self-confidence. All of Miss Fashion Global contestants are advocates of building self-esteem and leadership capability in girls and women of all ages and stages. The mission is for children to obtain achievement of physical, mental, social, emotional, spiritual, and economic success.
Shefik is continuously very active in the community. He served as a judge for a local Miss America competition, aiding in the 2018 crowning of Miss Northern Highlands, Miss Northern Lakes, and Miss North Jersey. The winners moved on to compete for the state title of Miss New Jersey 2018. Shefik also served as moderator at a panel discussion on "Equity & Diversity: Community Dialogue", held in Washington, D.C., and he was named Master of Ceremonies for various charitable events to benefit Autism New Jersey, and Eastern Shore Self-Advocacy Project (Chestertown, Maryland), as well as industry leading events Maarkah New York Fashion Week SS18 (New York City), and Lehigh Valley Fashion Week (Pennsylvania).
Additionally, Shefik appeared as a guest speaker at various uplifting events, such as a holiday fundraiser for YWCA Yonkers (Yonkers, New York), the 7th Annual Broadway Sings for Pride, and Global Tech Meets Fashion Affair Fundraiser, both held in New York City.
