Karynne Summars, the author of the romance/psychological thriller novels Desperate Pursuit in Venice and Desperate Pursuit in Rio de Janeiro was born and raised in Berlin, Germany. The winner of the 2014 MARSocial Author-of-the-Year Award and an Executive Producer of the psychological thriller/mystery feature film Disturbed (2015) was named one of the winners in the 2014 “50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading” contest.
The long awaited sequel to the award-winning Desperate Pursuit in Venice has been published. Desperate Pursuit in Rio de Janeiro continues where the prequel left off. Author Karynne Summars, who was named one of the winners in the 2014 “50 Great Writers You Should Be Reading” contest presented by the Authors Show, dedicated her novel to the indigenous tribes people of the Amazon rain forest for their quest to preserve our green planet.
Like her previous novel, this one again has a central message. Stop the deforestation and leave the rain forests alone because they could provide the key to more holistic treatments of all kinds of diseases. Recent news articles have also indicated that the rain forests may be a source of information about our climate. For that purpose, the Amazon Tall Tower Observatory has been erected in the Amazon rain forest. It will be used to gain information about gases and other pollutants, which may harm our environment as well as address the rain forest’s relationship to CO2. It is located about 100 miles from Manaus, the capital of Amazonas, a city playing a big role in the novel Desperate Pursuit in Rio de Janeiro, although the distance between Rio de Janeiro and Manaus is about 1800 miles.
