The Inspiration Gala Los Angeles
Designer Tom Ford was honored for his contributions to the fight against AIDS at the fifth annual Inspiration Gala Los Angeles, hosted by Gwyneth Paltrow. Rihanna presented the Award of Inspiration on amfAR’s behalf. The black-tie event raised more than $3 million for amfAR and featured a surprise performance by Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Jonny Buckland. R&B legend Diana Ross closed the night with an electrifying medley of her top hits. Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake and other celebrities were among those bidding generously in the live auction, conducted by amfAR Global Fundraising Chairman Sharon Stone. In another philanthropic highlight of the evening, amfAR Trustee David Bohnett made a $1 million gift to advance the Foundation’s “Countdown to a Cure for AIDS” initiative. To date, the Inspiration series has raised nearly $20 million for amfAR.

Held at the trendy STK LA and Bagatelle LA, the event featured music by A-list spinner DJ Politik and a raffle with prizes including Microsoft products, a $2,500 BVLGARI shopping experience, BUSINESSELITE® tickets on Delta Air Lines, a M•A•C Cosmetics Makeover and gift box, gift certificates to STK LA and Bagatelle LA, and an exclusive set visit to ABC Family’s hit drama series Pretty Little Liars. To date, generationCURE events have raised nearly $200,000 in support of amfAR’s search for a cure for HIV/AIDS.
