  • There are so many wonderful places to visit out there.  One of the most memorable is Demre means Peace, and is one of Turkey's most visited cities. This is one of the centers of the spread of Christianity, the place where he lived and preached Nicholas of Patras, known in the Orthodox tradition as Nicholas or Nikolai Ugodnik. sailor son (hence its sailors patron status), he was trained in Xanthus and became Bishop of Myra, where he preached from about 310 AD. e. until his death in 343, immediately after the death of St. Nicholas church was built; here he was buried in a marble sarcophagus. Originally, the church was destroyed by an earthquake, and in its place was built a basilica, destroyed in the 7th century. Arabs. Modern building (cruciform basilica) was built around the 8th century. The sarcophagus, which originally were the relics of St. Nicholas is located in the south aisle of the church, which is located between the two columns behind the ruined marble walls. It is believed to have been buried, and Nicholas's relics were fist there and later on were stolen by an Italian Pirates who then brought ST. Nicholas relics to Bari, Italy. In this story we also included a video of this trip however we did not record the trip and somehow it appeared on a camera, so we kept it as is. Enjoy!
