Knights of the Orthodox Order of Saint John Russian Grand Priory
The Orthodox Branch of The Order of Saint John of Jerusalem was established in perpetuity by His Imperial Majesty, The Emperor and Grand Master of the Order, Paul I of Russia in 1798. The present Sovereign Order, continued in the 19th and 20th centuries via Hereditary Family Commanders, is a not for profit charitable organization structured as it was originally founded by H.I.M. Emperor Paul I, as a noble and knightly institution. From its historical inception, it has received both ladies and gentlemen, for full active membership. The Order helps the needy and the ill, it supports the good works of the Orthodox Church. In recent years the Order has aided victims of the Tsunami, of the Beslan terrorist attack, of Katrina and Sandy, several orphanages, hospitals and churches in Russia, orphaned and abandoned children in Georgia, IOCC and local charitable groups and is organizing help for the children in Syria.
