On September 6, 2014, PopImpressKA Journal’s CEO, Olga Papkovitch and I attended the Malan Breton Spring Summer 2015 Men’s and Women’s Collections Fashion Show themed “A Journey to Taiwan-The Heart of Asia”.
To say that the show and the designer’s collection were amazing would be too weak of a word for this magical production, which began with a choreographed Asia influenced dance segment before the models were sent down the runway in the stunning designs. You can definitely tell that this designer has many other creative talents. In the past the Malan Breton signature fashion shows have featured dancers from The Royal Ballet, NYC Ballet and The SA Dance Company. He also partnered with musicians like Michael Buble, Ariana Grande, The Chelsea Symphony and others. The colors, fabrics as well as exciting designs for both the 2015 men’s and women’s collection are breathtaking. While the more colorful men’s suits will most likely not be on the shopping list of the typical conservative corporate American men, they have a place in the world of creatives, in which colors are not limited to grey, blue and pinstripes. While the male models looked flawless and sophisticated in these impeccably tailored suits, one can say that they would be not suitable for every man. However if you are one of these men who can easily pull these suits off, you will stand out from the crowd. The gorgeous women’s gowns, which came down the runway, definitely had the “wow factor” with descriptions ranging from elegant to extraordinary. A beautiful collection featuring stunning unusual designs and colors. Malan Breton was born in Taipei, Taiwan and currently resides in New York. He won the 2014 European Fashion Council “Eirene” Fashion Award. As of January 2014, Malan Breton was named number 24 of the top 100 most popular people in entertainment for his work in fashion and costume. He has dressed many A-list stars and his designs have been mentioned at the Oscar, Grammy, Cannes Film Festival and other well-known red carpet events. Malan Breton was also the subject of a six-part series “The Malan Show” which appeared on Bravo TV. Another incredible fact mentioned in his bio is that he never went to a design school, making him a natural talent. Having been wowed by Malan Breton’s 2015 Spring Collection, I can hardly wait for his 2015 Fall Collection to come out. He is on my radar now for when the time comes when I need a red carpet gown.
