Meet Sheila Flynn Making a Difference In NYC
Sheila Flynn has a vision for her community and she is making it happen.
Sheila Spencer Flynn grew up in Queens, New York. She is a single mother of three boys. She spent twelve (12) years working as an Adjunct Professor at Briarcliffe College, and other Post- Secondary Educational Institutions. After working many hours on Campus, she felt the need to want to do more for the students and the community she served.
The only way to accomplish this goal was to become President and CEO of the New Life Business Institute Inc. where she could give back to the Community she served. The Institute was founded in 2001 it specializes in Medical Training and is located at 161-10 Jamaica Ave. occupying ten (10) thousand square feet on the 4th floor in Jamaica, New York. She presently employs twenty- five full and part-time employees. She educates approximately two hundred and fifty (250) students a year.The Institution offers Job Placement Assistance, free business clothing and free computers to the population she serves. She has fifteen (15) years of successful experience providing fiscal, strategic and operations leadership in uniquely challenging situations among students and staff. Sheila is most fulfilled when helping people to grow professionally. Her vision and ability to nurture relationships lead to long-term solutions and success.
She is an active member of the South East Queens Chamber of Commerce, The American Medical Association and participates in a variety of civic and cultural organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Sierra Club, the Women's Philharmonic, and the National Museum of Women in the Arts. Outside of professional interests, she travels widely, reads, writes, and enjoys living in Queens with her family.
