In recognition of their prolonged commitment to culture, the arts, and MoMA, this year’s honorees are being celebrated for their artistry and philanthropy. Co-chairs of the event are Agnes Gund, Jo Carole and Ronald S. Lauder, Mimi Haas, and Marlene Hess and James D. Zirin. Honorary co-chairs are Leon D. Black, MarieJosée Kravis, and Jerry I. Speyer. The after-party will be highlighted by a special musical performance by James Blake, which will take place in MoMA’s Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden. Blake’s second studio album, Overgrown, was released in 2013 and awarded the Mercury Prize. Blake received his second Grammy Award nomination at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards for Best New Artist. His third studio album, The Colour in Anything, was released in 2016 to critical acclaim. As both a musician and producer, Blake has collaborated with Bon Iver, Frank Ocean, Drake, Chance the Rapper, Beyoncé, and, most recently, Kendrick Lamar. This performance will be the New York debut of his new, highly anticipated solo piano show. Additionally, the evening will feature DJ sets by KAYTRANADA and KLAUS (1-800 DINOSAUR). In addition, this year’s after-party will feature a special host committee of emerging female artists affiliated with the Museum, including: Zoë Buckman, Molly Crabapple, Teresita Fernández, LaToya Ruby Frazier, Anna Rose Holmer, Steffani Jemison, Jing Liu, Jumana Manna, Mika Rottenberg, Emily Roysdon, Erin Shirreff, Xaveria Simmons, Taryn Simon, Avery K. Party in the Garden benefits MoMA’s Annual Fund and the maintenance of The Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden.
